Position: Head of Innovation and Technology Projects
Key Objective:
To build from scratch and lead an internal New Ventures Laboratory that will systematically develop business ideas initiated by the owners and the team, transforming them into real solutions - products, services, MVPs, or independent technology units. The Head ensures the full cycle: from analysis and decomposition of ideas to prototype creation and testing, selection of executors, scalability assessment, and preparation for implementation or market launch.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Receive, analyze, and critically evaluate new business ideas and hypotheses coming from shareholders, top management, and external sources.
- Conduct a structured review of each idea in terms of product, technology, cost, market, business logic, and risks.
- Develop step-by-step implementation roadmaps: stages, architecture, performers, timelines, and approximate economics.
- Create the department’s methodology: how ideas are selected, validated, advanced to the next stage, and which metrics are applied.
- Search for and engage external contractors, technology partners, agencies, and specialists for each idea.
- Form project teams for each idea:
– Involving experts in necessary roles: analysts, engineers, project managers (PM), UX/UI designers, product trackers, researchers, tech architects, etc.
– With a flexible engagement model: permanent employees, temporarily allocated resources, as well as external contractors, freelancers, and outsourcing teams.
– The team’s composition and structure are tailored individually to the needs and stage of each project. - Organize managed development: task setting, hypothesis testing, launching POC (Proof of Concept), MVP (Minimum Viable Product), and pilots.
- Prepare and present project, technical, and investment documentation: concepts, briefs, reports, business cases.
- Maintain documentation for both internal and external solutions.
- Cooperate with specialized universities, teams, studios, research centers, and startups.
- Search for and evaluate new technologies, solutions, and approaches that can serve as the foundation for future products.
Types of Projects:
Projects cover a wide range of areas, including:
- IT, digital products, automation, AI, data platforms
- Business services and B2C solutions
- Smart devices and engineering solutions
- Experimental technology solutions for hypothesis and approach validation
- Technology modules reusable across multiple products
- Sustainability and renewable energy projects — energy-efficient solutions, environmental monitoring, recycling, ESG tools
- Medical, educational, and social initiatives — provided they have business potential
Candidate Requirements:
- Deep understanding of product and technology design. Not necessarily a developer but must be well-versed in architectures, APIs, business logic, technologies, and product life cycle.
- Ability to quickly dive into any topic — from digital platforms to hardware and biotech.
- Proven experience in launching projects: from ideas to MVP, implementation, or commercialization.
- Background in R&D, technology labs, hardcore startups, or deep tech projects.
- Strong systems thinking: ability to structure chaos, set up processes, and turn ideas into manageable tasks.
- Experience working with contractors and technology companies: task setting, quality control, budgeting.
- Willingness to act as the key executor at the start and only then build a team.
- Ability to work under uncertainty and with multiple parallel ideas.
- Cross-disciplinary mindset, curiosity for new markets and trends.
- Understanding of product metrics, investment logic, Lean Startup approaches, TRL (Technology Readiness Level).
- High autonomy, internal motivation, and a role of co-creator rather than observer.
